David W. Marks

When David Marks returned to England with his mother, he became” British” and developed a keen interest in the sport of archery, winning the Junior National Championship in 1964 and 1965. He was to enter the towing and recovery industry when he formed the Albany Garage in Stechford, Birmingham in 1968. Assisting him were his mother,
brother-in-law, and later his sister. The towing and recovery portion of the operation continued to expand until a separate company, Albany Recovery was formed in 1986. He purchased his first recovery unit from Ron Grice. David Marks went on to develop a patented design for the Lifting Beam LB3 and LB6 which are used in connection with towing operations. He became associated with A. V.R.O. in 1972 and went on to serve as its Chairman in 1986 and 1988, past National Treasurer and past Regional Secretary. He currently serves as Chairman once again. In 1989 his wife, Doreen and sons John and Steven joined the family business which has since further expanded to include a third depot in Birmingham.

David Marks was one of the founding trustees of the A.V,R.O. Benevolent Fund which provides financial assistance to the dependents of towing operators killed in the line of duty, or to those for whom serious accident or injury causes financial hardship. David Wayne Marks is indeed an industry leader in every sense of the word and continues to raise the level of professionalism in England and throughout the towing industry.
