Junius R. Elmore Jr.

Junius Elmore, Jr. moved to CheyeID1e in 1948 and started a career in the towing and recovery business, in the employ of others. In 1961 he bought his first tow truck, which was a hand operated Homes 330. Later, he expanded his fleet to include a Holmes 500, soon followed by a heavy duty 750. His business and fleet continued to grow and, at one time, Junius Elmore, Jr. owned and operated the largest fleet of tow trucks in the. state.ofWyoming. In 1981 he was instrumental in forming the Wyoming Professional Towing Association, has held the office of President for five terms and today serves as it’s Executive Director and Lobbyist. Junius Elmore, Jr. also serves as Wyoming State Director of TRAA.

Through his extensive efforts, Junius Elmore, Jr. has overcome a hostile attitude on the part of law enforcement to such an extent that the Wyoming State Police may well now lead the nation in support of towers. Junius Elmore, Jr. has lobbied important bills into law through his legislative efforts and remains active in state wide issues affecting the towing industry. He also supports a comprehensive training program and is involved in the rule making process on behalf of the Wyoming Public Service Commission. But perhaps his greatest contribution to our industry is the fight he waged, and won, that provides for the equitable allocation of rotation calls for towers. This was fought through the federal courts by Junius Elmore, Jr. at great personal cost and risk and every tower in the United States can now benefit from his efforts.
