William R. Tomlinson
Bill Tomlinson grew’into the industry through his fathers’ towing business which was established in 1946. During school, Bill drove a tow truck at night and on weekends, until he was able t0 join the firm as a full time employee. Bill bought the family business in 1966 and with his wife Barb, has gone on to expand services, equipment and area of operation, leaving an improved legacy for yet another generation of Tomlinsons that is close behind. Bill has always been interested in providing superior services to his customers, often modifying the commercially available equipment to suit their particular needs. While he still retains some older mechanical equipment, his fleet includes modern hydraulic units with wheel lifts and other innovations of the past few years.
Bill Tomlinson is dedicated to … ” improving the towing industry for all operators”. He was a charter member of the Towing and Recovery Association of American, which he has served as it’s only District Director from Wisconsin. He served as Chairman of the Council of State Towing Associations (COSTA) for two terms. Further, Bill was selected to serve on the national training committee for handling accidents involving hazardous materials, also on behalf 0f TRAA. He even takes his training message to the local schools in order to educate and inform students and parents alike about the towing industry and the need drive safely. Bill Tomlinson has been an active member of the Wisconsin Towing Association since 1968, where he has served on the board for nineteen years, including three in which he Chaired. But he is best known throughout the Northern States for the Heavy Duty Demonstrations he co-chaired for seven years at the annual Wisconsin Convention. Recently, Bill was lauded by American Towman Magazine as a Recovery Master.
Bill Tomlinson is active in the State Capital, lobbying on behalf of bills before the legislature that are of interest to the state association. He has been an active member of Friends of Towing since its inception, which he serves as a Trustee and Regional Representative for the Midwest. Bill Tomlinson has a vision to improve the towing industry for “all” tow operators and works diligently to achieve that goal.
