Robert E. Brough

In 1950, Bob started in the heavy trucking/transportation business, but his interests soon turned to towing. In 1973 he joined Fruehauf Corporation and immediately became involved in the development and sales of towing equipment. In 1979 he was instrumental in the development of one of the first heavy duty add on underlifts. While with Fruehauf, Bob also earned the coveted Salesman of the year award in 1979; Million$$ Club in 1977 and Presidents’ Club in 1978. In 1980 he was promoted to Truck Equipment Sales Manager for Fruehauf.

Bob, assisted with his wife and lifelong partner, Bobbie, went on to purchase a towing company, thus coming full circle from transportation, to design, to sales, to towing. Today, Bruffy’s Del Rey Towing is a modern operation capably managed by two of his four sons who are assisted by other family members, thus allowing Bob to devote more of his attention to improving the industry. Within the past decade, Bob has been lauded by the California State Legislature, the California Two Truck Association, the Los Angeles Police Department and the Los Angeles Board of Supervisors for his many extraordinary contributions made on behalf of the towing industry.

The California Senate best summarized Bob’s contributions in a Resolution adopted by the Rules Committee on March 18, 1991 which states, in part …. ” …that the members take pride in honoring Robert Eugene “Bruffy” Brough, outgoing President of the California Tow Truck Association, on his exemplary record of service to that organization, commend him for his outstanding display of civic leadership, and convey best wishes for his continued success …. ”

Today, Friends of Towing is also pleased to recognize and honor Robert E. Brough for his untiring efforts to improve the Towing and Recovery Industry for the benefit of all.
