Darrell was born in Bushnell, Florida on April 15, 1941.  He was married to Jackie in Orlando, Florida on September 5, 1964.  Jackie has been involved in the business from day one.  Together, they have four children, Darrell Johnson, Jr., Darlene Johnson, Dorie Johnson and Dennis Johnson, all of which are actively involved in the business.
Darrell started out as a Gulf dealer in 1967.  He was the youngest Gulf dealer in the business, but soon discovered that towing was his passion.  He then sold the Gulf Station and began Johnson’s Wrecker Service, Inc.  Currently, they specialize in law enforcement response and recovery work.
Darrell holds certifications in light, medium, heavy and ultra-heavy duty towing through the Professional Wrecker Operators of Florida.  He is also one of the founding members of this association that began in 1977.  Over the years, Darrell has worked to pass laws for the betterment of the industry and has worked hard to get price increases for Private Property Impounds.  Darrell holds a current membership with PWOF.
Darrell sponsors multiple leagues throughout the year and donated a ball field to the Pine Hills Little League which they then named after him.  Darrell is also active with several organizations to include The Russell Home, the American Cancer Society, Shop with Cops, Shriners and Children’s Safety Village.
In the future, Darrell hopes to open a 2nd location on the east side of Orlando.
